Description
Rawa Idli is a tasty and easy-to-make South Indian dish that is soft, fluffy, and slightly grainy in texture. Unlike traditional idli, it is made using rawa (semolina) instead of rice. Rawa is lightly roasted and then mixed with yogurt, water, and spices to form a smooth batter. Ingredients like mustard seeds, curry leaves, green chilies, ginger, and sometimes vegetables such as carrots or peas are added to give extra flavor. A small amount of baking soda or fruit salt is used to make the idlis soft and airy.
The batter is poured into idli molds and steamed until cooked. Rawa idlis are usually served hot with coconut chutney, tomato chutney, or sambar. This dish is popular because it does not need long fermentation time and can be prepared quickly. Rawa idli is light, filling, and nutritious, making it a great choice for breakfast or a healthy snack.
